Professional Athlete Training

Jonah currently advises a number of professional athletes across all major sports on their off-season training program. He has a limited spots available for comprehensive off-season training. Note these services are limited to professional athletes only. Please email or book a discovery call with Jonah for inquiries.

Pro Athlete InitiaL testing

The following services are recommended for the initial assessment process. The tests' results are used to design an individualized training program to put each athlete in the best possible position for success. Note some of these services require out of pocket cost for the athlete.

Dexa Body Composition
Scan

  • Dual-energy absorptiometry (DEXA) is the most accurate method for body composition analysis trusted by research and elite sports labs across the world

  • Quantifies Lean Mass, Fat Mass, Bone Mass

  • Results used to monitor body composition and determine any concerning asymmetries in muscle mass or bone density

  • Bone or muscle mass asymmetries will be addressed via specific training modalities

Full Comprehensive Bood Work Panel

  • Blood work is suggested bi-annually to ensure an athlete's biochemical physiology is in an ideal state to adapt to the stress of training

  • Results will be analyzed for nutrient deficiencies for supplementation

Neuromuscular Assessment

  • A range of neuromuscular tests are conducted on a laboratory grade force-plate to quantify distinct bio-motor qualities and asymmetries

  • Assessments include maximum strength, power, reactivity, isometric strength in key joint angles, and force-velocity profiling

  • Results are utilized to identify an athlete's neuromuscular strengths and weakness to ensure proper training prescription

Motion-Capture Biomechanics Assessment
(if applicable)

  • Optical 3D motion tracking provides the most accurate and in-depth analysis of movement for athletes

  • 3D Motion Capture Assessments only occur in unique situations where athlete is returning from substantial injury or in-depth performance analysis is deemed necessary

Sprint Kinematic /
Kinetic Analysis
(if applicable)

  • Sprint Force-Velocity Profiling analyzes the kinetics of an individual 30m sprint effort

  • Resultant profile helps determine if an athlete is deficient in a key kinetic qualities (Force or Velocity) that underpin sprint performance

  • Biomechanics (kinematics) are compared to force-velocity profile outputs to determine potential technique limitations

Gait Analysis
(if applicable)

  • Pressure mapping and microchip infused insoles gauge an athletes stride kinematics and foot based gait line

  • Results help indicate which aspects of the muscular skeletal systems are being exposed to high levels of stress

  • Often previous injuries cause long-lasting changes in gait patterns that can only be discovered through pressure mapping technology

  • Data is closely analyzed to determine ideal cleat / shoe choice for each individual athlete

Metabolic Testing
(if applicable)

  • 4-1-4 Acyclic step test is conducted for metabolically demanding sporting events

  • Volume of Oxygen, Heart Rate, Breathing Frequency, Tidal Volume, Local Muscle Oxygen Consumption are all recorded

  • Real-time biomechanics are measured via lower limb accelerometers and IMU mounted shoe in-soles

Monitoring / Training Technology

The following technologies are tools Jonah has extensive experience with from his time in an NBA / NFL environment. The equipment is utilized to monitor training and an individual athlete's response to training. Note these pieces of technology are out of pocket cost for the athlete.

GPS / Accelerometer
System (Required)

  • GPS / Accelerometer help optimize athlete development by quantifying athletes' training loads

  • Specific training load parameters are monitored to prepare for game demands and ensure proper athletic development

  • Reduce injury risk by avoiding rapid changes in workload

Blood Flow Restriction Set (Recommended)

  • Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFR) restricts the venous return of deoxygenated blood causing blood pooling within a muscle

  • The hypoxic environment has been proven to aid in muscle growth, growth hormone production, and muscle fiber activation

  • BFR has been linked to enhanced recovery through the removal of waste and inflammatory by products

  • BFR produces similar adaptations to heavy strength training while using lighter loads which is beneficial for reducing the recovery cost or when high loads are contraindicated
